Juventus may not have dazzled in their victory over Genoa on Saturday, but new manager Igor Tudor was pleased to secure a win, understanding that there is still considerable work ahead.
Tudor took the helm on Sunday after the dismissal of Thiago Motta, and kicked off his tenure with a narrow 1-0 triumph at home, following a series of heavy losses to Atalanta and Fiorentina that left Juve in fifth place.
“It’s important to highlight that we were up against a formidable side in Genoa. This win was well earned,” Tudor stated during the post-match press conference. “Beginning with a victory is crucial for everyone. Many players performed admirably, which is a positive sign.”
“However, I’ve noticed there’s still plenty of room for improvement. This sets us up well as we head into our first full week of training. We need to put in the effort.”
The appointment of Tudor has been met with enthusiasm from the fans, who were delighted to see a familiar face—one who spent a significant portion of his playing days with the club—leading the team, even chanting his name before the match.

“Hearing the fans chant my name was very touching,” Tudor remarked. “Yet, the victory is ultimately more gratifying than any emotion. It was vital for our supporters. It felt great, but my focus remained sharp, as starting off on the right foot was crucial.”
Kenan Yildiz netted a stunning solo goal in the 25th minute, securing the victory for Juve, who now find themselves just one point shy of fourth-placed Bologna in their quest for a Champions League spot.
“That was a great goal, definitely one of my best. I hope to score more regular goals too. We’re feeling good, we’re a solid squad and we’ve worked hard,” Yildiz told DAZN. “I appreciate Motta; we gave it our all under his guidance. The new coach has introduced a refreshing energy.”
