NBA Hall of Famer and head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Jason Kidd, has been welcomed as a new member of Everton’s ownership group, the Premier League club confirmed on Thursday.
Kidd is now part of Roundhouse Capital Holdings, which is affiliated with The Friedkin Group, the entity that assumed control of the Merseyside club last December.
With a stellar NBA career spanning nearly two decades, Kidd clinched the championship title with the Mavericks in 2011. He also earned recognition as a 10-time All-Star and a two-time Olympic gold medallist.
“I am privileged to join Everton’s ownership at such a critical juncture: with a new stadium in the works and an optimistic future ahead, it’s an exciting time to get involved,” Kidd remarked in a statement.
Earlier this season, Everton secured a long-term financing arrangement for their upcoming 52,888-seater stadium, finalising a funding package worth £350 million ($465.96 million) to refinance existing loans related to the facility.
The club currently sits in 13th place in the league standings, following David Moyes’ return as manager in January, which has revitalised their season. They are set to move into their new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock for the 2025-26 season.
On Wednesday, Everton announced the addition of Christopher Sarofim, chairman of global investment firm Fayez Sarofim & Co, to Roundhouse Capital Holdings, where he will serve as a board observer.
