Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder has addressed speculation linking him to the Boomers coaching position, acknowledging that it’s “flattering”.
The 58-year-old has been entrenched in the NBA for over ten years, having dedicated eight seasons to the Utah Jazz before joining the Hawks in 2023.
Recent reports from ESPN have suggested that Snyder is a contender for the vacant role with the Australian national team, following Brian Goorjian’s resignation last September.
After his team’s 114-104 defeat to the Detroit Pistons on Thursday (AEDT), Snyder fielded questions regarding the possibility of leading the green and gold.
“Whenever your name is brought up in relation to the national team, especially the Australian national team, it’s genuinely flattering and a privilege,” Snyder remarked.

“At the moment, my concentration is on the Hawks and what we’re working on.”
Snyder has been actively mentoring Aussie talent Dyson Daniels, who is starting to make a significant impact in the highly competitive NBA.
The 21-year-old from Bendigo is averaging 13.3 points and five rebounds per game this season with Atlanta, and he was one of the standout performers for the Boomers during the recent Paris Olympics.
In their setback against the Pistons, Daniels led the team with a commendable 20 points.
