Napoli’s Title Aspirations Suffer a Significant Blow as Como Shocks Antonio Conte’s Squad

Como boosted their position away from the relegation zone with a 2-1 triumph over SSC Napoli, who failed to clinch the top spot from Inter Milan in the Serie A standings during the clash at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

An unexpected early goal set the tone for Como, as a misplaced pass by Amir Rrahmani from the edge of the box inadvertently found its way past his own goalkeeper and into the net, catching the visitors off guard within the first 10 minutes.

Napoli quickly bounced back, with Giacomo Raspadori seizing on a defensive blunder, dispossessing his marker in the midfield before slotting a calm low shot into the net, extending their record of scoring away goals to 11 consecutive matches.

As the first half drew to a close, Napoli took command and poured the pressure on the Lariani in pursuit of their third consecutive league victory at Como’s ground.

After the break, Cesc Fàbregas’ side, led by Gabriel Strefezza, upped the ante. Napoli, however, remained resolute. Antonio Conte made key substitutions just after the hour mark, bringing on Giovanni Simeone and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

The substitutes nearly made an immediate impact when Scott McTominay unleashed a fierce effort from close range, only for Como’s goalkeeper Jean Butez to pull off an incredible save, maintaining the stalemate.

Just when Napoli thought they were regaining control, Como struck decisively on the counter-attack. Assane Diao calmly slotted a low shot into the bottom left corner, restoring Como’s lead with under 15 minutes to play.

Despite their determination, Napoli faced their fourth consecutive league match without a win, marking their first defeat in that stretch. They now trail Inter Milan by one point after their fourth league loss this season.

On the other hand, Como are riding high after securing back-to-back victories, with this narrow win over Conte’s side being their first head-to-head success since November 1952.
