Juventus are maintaining their trust in manager Thiago Motta for the time being, even after the team faced a second consecutive heavy loss on Sunday, according to the club’s football director, Cristiano Giuntoli.
Following a 4-0 drubbing at home against Atalanta last weekend, Juve suffered a 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina, leaving Motta’s squad in fifth place on the Serie A table and intensifying scrutiny on the manager.
“In times like these, we must remain united; we will navigate through these challenges together,” Giuntoli told Sky Sports.
“We deeply regret this situation; it has been a year of ups and downs, but we’ve never experienced two such subpar performances back-to-back. However, we firmly believe we can overcome this as a unit.”
When questioned about Motta’s future in charge, Giuntoli was clear: “Absolutely,” he replied.
“We embarked on a project that anticipated encountering difficulties, including salary cuts. Our sole focus must be on our primary goal: qualifying for the Champions League.”

Giuntoli is approaching the situation with cautious optimism, just as the club remained calm after starting the season with two convincing 3-0 victories over Como and Hellas Verona.
“We are trying to objectively analyse the events of recent weeks. Let’s not forget that the media had us earmarked as potential league winners following our performance against Verona,” Giuntoli noted.
“We need to maintain perspective; we can’t swing from elation to despair. Over the next few days, we aim to move forward with clarity.”
“Stability is crucial, both on and off the pitch. Until a couple of matches ago, we had the best defensive record in the league. Conceding so many goals indicates we’ve lost our balance.”

Motta remains resolute, refusing to give up despite the challenges he faces in his inaugural season with the club, as Juve appears out of the title race, the Champions League, and the Coppa Italia.
“Throwing in the towel would be the easy way out, and that’s not my style,” Motta remarked when asked if he would consider resigning.
“Winning is essential; we must discover a route to secure the points we need to finish in the top four of the league.”
“It feels reminiscent of the last game; we begin strongly, but when met with our first challenge, like against Atalanta, we struggle to respond.”
