Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers believes his team possesses the talent required to overcome the 3-1 disadvantage from the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Rogers opened the scoring for Villa in the 35th minute during the match in Paris, but the Ligue 1 champions equalised through Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nuno Mendes, leaving Villa with a two-goal deficit to make up for the return leg in Birmingham.
“It’s tough when you find yourself defending for long periods and having to fight hard. We gave it our all, but ultimately their quality shone through, along with a few errors on our part,” Rogers shared with TNT Sports.
“We must continue to push forward and keep the faith that we can achieve this … we undoubtedly have the ability to turn it around, so it’s far from over.”
The Premier League outfit is expected to challenge PSG at Villa Park, a venue where they have remained unbeaten since a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in the League Cup last October, as noted by Rogers.
“Now we’re heading back home, and that’s where we know we perform at our best. Our style of play has been stronger at home this season,” he added.
