Mohamed Salah has put an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future after Liverpool officially announced that the Egyptian star has signed a new contract.
Salah’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season, but he has now secured a contract that will see him remain at Anfield until 2027.
This extension is a significant boost for Liverpool, who are on course to clinch their 20th title in the top tier of English football.
“I’m obviously thrilled,” Salah expressed on Liverpool’s official website. “We have a fantastic team at the moment. We had a great squad before as well, but I chose to sign because I believe we have a strong chance to lift more trophies and enjoy my time playing football.”
“It’s wonderful; I’ve experienced my best years here. I’ve played for eight years, and I hope it will stretch to ten. I’m loving my life here and relishing my football. My most rewarding years of my career have been spent here,” he added.
“I want to tell the fans that I am extremely happy to be here. I signed because I believe we can achieve great things together. Please continue to support us, and we’ll give our all; hopefully, we will win even more trophies in the future,” he remarked.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has netted 27 goals and provided 17 assists in the Premier League this season, helping the Reds establish a commanding 11-point lead at the top of the table.
This campaign marks the most fruitful for the 32-year-old, who has now tallied an impressive 243 goals and 109 assists in 393 appearances for the club.
Salah has already lifted the Premier League trophy with Liverpool, along with the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
He was one of three crucial Liverpool players whose contracts were set to expire this summer, alongside defenders Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose terms are also nearing their end.
Captain Van Dijk recently stated that there has been “progress” in discussions about a new deal, while Alexander-Arnold’s future looks uncertain, with heavy interest from Real Madrid.
