Kylian Mbappe has lodged a legal complaint against his former club Paris Saint-Germain, alleging moral harassment, as confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office to AFP on Thursday, which has since initiated an investigation.
As the captain of the French national team, Mbappe is also in a legal dispute with PSG to recover €55 million (£46.8 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses that he claims the club owes him.
The latest issue for Mbappe stems from his treatment by PSG at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, where he found himself training alongside players the club was eager to offload.
He alleges that the club sidelined him after he declined to extend his contract, a situation that’s also impacted fellow footballers, leading the French players’ union to submit a complaint last year.
During the 2023 pre-season, Mbappe was not included in the tour of Asia and missed the opening match of the season, although he was later reintegrated into the squad following discussions with the club.
The 26-year-old made the move to Real Madrid last summer after spending seven seasons with PSG, where he netted an impressive 256 goals in 308 appearances. Remarkably, the French club secured their first Champions League title last month following his departure.
