Mark Milligan has resigned from his role as assistant coach for Malaysia, seeking new prospects overseas.
The former Socceroo’s departure comes just two months after his appointment at the world’s 131st ranked team, amid escalating rumours regarding his potential return to the Isuzu UTE A-League, where he previously served as an assistant at Adelaide United.
At 39 years old, Milligan was recruited to Malaysia by Australian head coach Peter Cklamovski and is now being linked with a move to the Newcastle Jets following the announcement that Rob Stanton will exit at the season’s conclusion.
“I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to Mark Milligan for his contributions to the Harimau Malaya National Team,” stated Cklamovski.
“Though his time with us was short, he played a key role in our initial preparations for our forthcoming match against Nepal.”
“We fully understand and respect his decision to seek opportunities abroad, and we wish him all the best in his future pursuits.”
