The Wellington Phoenix have mutually agreed to terminate Marco Rojas’ contract.
The club has released Rojas with three months remaining on his Isuzu UTE A-League contract at age 33.
Rojas made a notable return to Wellington at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, circling back after 13 years since he first emerged with the ‘Nix in 2009.

Unfortunately, injuries hindered Rojas during his second stint at Wellington, restricting him to just seven appearances, including a mere two as a starter.
Despite this setback, Rojas – who was an unused substitute against Western Sydney Wanderers last week – still ranks second in assists for the Phoenix this season, just behind his teammate Hideki Ishige.

“It’s disappointing that we didn’t get the opportunity to witness the best version of Marco in a Phoenix jersey,” stated Shaun Gill, the club’s director of football.
“Injuries are unfortunately part of the game, and they significantly limited his involvement this season.
“Even though his time with us was brief, it has been wonderful to see Marco back in Wellington, the place where he began his football journey. We wish him nothing but the best going forward.”
