Tom Trbojevic has been assessed as a “50/50” prospect for this weekend’s match, while coach Anthony Seibold has attempted to dispel speculation regarding Daly Cherry-Evans’ future with the club.
The dynamic Manly fullback exited the field during the second half of last Friday’s unexpected defeat to the Warriors, raising initial concerns about his ongoing hamstring issues.
Although the results from his scans were relatively optimistic, Trbojevic’s previous encounters with similar injuries have left many questioning whether the Sea Eagles will take the chance of playing him in round three.
The 28-year-old was included in the squad on Tuesday afternoon, but during a discussion on SEN radio, the coach provided an update on Trbojevic’s fitness.

“We’ve named him and are feeling hopeful,” Seibold commented.
“Turbo must complete a fitness test later in the week. We’re going to be cautious with his situation. The scan showed nothing significant; it’s just general tightness.
“Given his history, we need to ensure he’s fully fit before we see him back on the pitch. If he’s unable to play this week, we expect him to return the following week.
“If he doesn’t take the field, it’ll be because we want to resolve that hamstring tightness.
“We’re hopeful but still consider him a 50/50 chance.”

Another injury concern for the Sea Eagles following last week’s game is captain Cherry-Evans, who left the field in considerable distress due to back spasms.
He appears ready to face the Raiders, yet there are lingering uncertainties about the NRL’s veteran player.
Cherry-Evans is still without a contract beyond this season, having drawn interest from multiple rival clubs; however, Seibold remains optimistic that Manly can keep the 36-year-old.

“We’re happy if he decides to continue playing,” he stated.
“He hasn’t reached a conclusion about his future yet, so until that happens, everyone should stay calm. We’ve had confidential discussions that I’m not willing to make public.
“As long as I’m coaching, I’d love to have him remain with us, as he is a vital part of our squad.
“His performance has improved; he’s been outstanding over the past few years.”
Cherry-Evans is reportedly seeking an extension, but he may need to accept a pay reduction in order to stay on the Northern Beaches.
