Parramatta veteran Nathan Hindmarsh has suggested that his old club should consider letting Dylan Brown leave, stating it “makes sense” for an early departure.
Brown is set to sign with the Knights for next season on a monumental 10-year contract valued at $13 million, but he will finish out the current season donning the blue and gold strip.
The five-eighth has encountered difficulties with his performance in the opening rounds, with the Eels experiencing three consecutive losses in the absence of star halfback and captain Mitchell Moses.
Following their recent disappointing defeat—a tough 16-8 loss to Canterbury—Hindmarsh, a favourite among Parramatta fans, has begun to wonder if a change is on the horizon.

“Is it more beneficial to simply move him on? I’m at the point where it definitely makes sense,” Hindmarsh remarked in an interview with The Bye Round.
“To be honest, he isn’t contributing much for the Eels. We know he has the potential… I just want to see him deliver more.”
“For me, I found it straightforward to excel, just running the ball and making tackles, whereas he must coordinate the chaotic situation currently surrounding the team.”
“Now that he’s signed that lucrative deal with the Knights, the pressure has intensified, but I believe the stress would have existed regardless of the massive contract.”

In the first three matches of the season, Brown has managed two try assists and caused one dropout, yet this has not translated into wins for the Eels.
English legend James Graham has expressed concern about Brown’s mindset, believing the Kiwi international has “withdrawn” since news of the deal emerged.

“He seems completely bewildered,” Graham observed.
“It appears he is afraid of failing and making errors.
“When you look at Nathan Cleary, the best halfback in the sport, he isn’t scared to make mistakes, while it seems Dylan has retreated into himself.
“He is worried about making a blunder.”
Parramatta is set to face the Manly Sea Eagles in round four.
