Leeds United are reportedly contemplating the dismissal of manager Daniel Farke, even after securing their return to the Premier League this week.
According to MailOnline, the decision-makers at Elland Road have serious concerns about Farke’s ability to keep the team afloat in the Premier League next season. They are particularly apprehensive about his capacity to guide them away from the relegation zone and prevent a swift drop back into the Championship, a fate that often befalls newly promoted clubs.
The German manager marked a thrilling return to the top flight with a stunning 6-0 victory over Stoke City at Elland Road, but his previous Premier League record raises eyebrows.
During his 49 matches in the Premier League with Norwich City, Farke managed to secure only six wins, a return that is insufficient for a team just promoted.
Since taking over at Leeds in 2023, he has celebrated 59 victories out of 102 matches. With two games remaining and a points tally nearing 100, it would appear rather harsh to dismiss him following such an impressive achievement.
At Norwich, he enjoyed two promotion campaigns but was sacked in the 2019/20 season after finishing at the bottom with just 21 points.
Last season marked the first time since 1998 that all three promoted teams faced relegation, and the Leeds hierarchy will be keen to steer clear of the pitfalls experienced by clubs like Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town, who struggled to perform at the elite level.
