LeBron James delivered an impressive performance with 33 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds, notching his 10th triple-double of the season. He led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 128-112 triumph over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, a venue where he has had many memorable nights.
With this victory, James improved his record to 23-8 in what has become his favourite arena, comfortably exceeding his average of 28 points per game there.
He also achieved the milestone of becoming the seventh player in NBA history to hit 2,500 3-pointers, making three of the Lakers’ total of 19—their second-best tally of the season.
Furthermore, James made history by being the first player to record multiple triple-doubles at the age of 40 or beyond.

James celebrated his 40th birthday on December 30.
During the game, he was heard saying, “this is 40” after making a play, adding, “I caught my second wind when I woke up this morning.”
Later, in a post-match interview with ESPN, James mused, “I have no idea how I’m still doing this,” reflecting on his earlier quote about turning 40.
“The man above has blessed me with incredible gifts, and I have worked hard to make the most of them. The dedication I’ve put into the game has rewarded me tremendously,” he remarked.
With 1 minute and 50 seconds left in the match, James stepped off the court after completing his triple-double, making way for his son, Bronny, whose name had been echoing through the arena throughout the game.

In his brief moment on the court, Bronny made an impressive left-handed layup on his sole attempt.
Austin Reaves contributed 27 points, while Rui Hachimura added 21 points to help the Lakers, who shot an impressive 58% from the floor.
For the Knicks, Josh Hart notched up 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, recording his seventh triple-double of the season, but it wasn’t enough to extend their five-game winning streak. Jalen Brunson chipped in with 17 points, while Mikal Bridges finished with 16.
