The Dolphins enjoyed a solid first half against the Rabbitohs, but things took a disappointing turn when Kodi Nikorima suffered a hamstring injury.
With just over two minutes remaining in the half, Nikorima launched a kick downfield and was one of the first players to close in on Tyrone Munro for a tackle.
However, as he braced for impact, he grimaced in agony and fell to the ground, clutching his hamstring.
“That just came out of nowhere, he’s in terrible pain,” commented Dan Ginnane on Fox League.

Nikorima eventually made his way off the field, aided by the club’s medical staff.
Mick Ennis remarked, “Kodi Nikorima has been in outstanding form, he kicks downfield and chases it, but just as he goes in for the collision, he gets caught out.”
This injury cast a shadow over the Dolphins’ remarkable start, even after conceding a try to Jack Wighton within the first three minutes.

From that point on, the home team dominated, with Jeremy Marshall-King and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow both scoring the opening tries.
Nikorima himself touched down in the 27th minute, followed shortly after by a try from Jake Averillo.
Tabuai-Fidow netted his second try after Nikorima’s exit, leaving the score at 30-6 at half-time.
Nikorima’s halves partner, Isaiya Katoa, shone in the first half, racking up two try assists, a line break, and a line break assist.
