Kevin de Bruyne has assured Napoli supporters that he has joined the club with the aim of lifting trophies.
The Italian champions welcomed the former Manchester City midfielder last week.
De Bruyne expressed to Napoli’s media: “I’m a winner; my goal is to win matches. I’ve always had this mentality, and I can’t stand losing.”
“The team secured the Scudetto last year, and now they are competing in the Champions League. I’m optimistic that we can build something significant together for the future.”
“The squad is driven and ambitious, and it feels like a well-assembled team, so I found the project appealing, and I hope to contribute to the team achieving its goals.”
Getting to know Naples
Reflecting on the warm welcome he received from Napoli fans during his medical, De Bruyne remarked: “I remember it was incredibly loud. The supporters were quite intense!”
“But that’s positive; I think I’m starting to understand how Naples operates and how the city passionately supports its team, which was one of the reasons I wanted to be part of this.”
“Initially, I might need some time to adapt, but with so many fans backing the team, I believe we will enjoy a great atmosphere to perform.”
Reuniting with Lukaku
De Bruyne also shared his excitement about reuniting with Romelu Lukaku.
“I’ve known Romelu since I was 13. He had many positive things to say about the team and the city, so I’m thrilled to join forces and achieve great things together.”
“It’s an exciting opportunity, as it’s all quite new for me. After living in England for a decade, I believe this will be a wonderful experience for both me and my family, and I can’t wait to get started.”
