The Southern Districts Car Club has proudly kicked off its Junior Development Program for the 21st time, aiming to equip local young drivers with the essential skills to launch their motorsport careers at the Mid Murray Motorplex in Cambrai, all within a secure environment.
Since its establishment, this South Australian club has welcomed more than 600 budding drivers into the program, nurturing talents who have progressed to become elite champions, including three South Australian Rally Champions, Khanacross Champions, and Hillclimb Champions.
In recent years, the club has successfully filled every available spot for drivers, a testament to the involvement and support of parents and guardians.
Over four separate days and in partnership with Motorsport Australia, the program accommodates 18 drivers per morning and afternoon session (36 drivers each day). This year’s final session is scheduled for Saturday, 19 July 2025.
Registration for the 2026 SDCC JDP will open later this year, and interested parties can pre-register by emailing JDP@sdcc.asn.au.

The programme commenced on 12 April with an introduction to motorsport, highlighting a range of competition pathways from club level up to international pathways. Participants also engaged in motorkhana activities, practising a basic slalom course to enhance their skills in acceleration, braking, and steering.
On 24 May, drivers explored the world of heavy vehicle operation through a ‘Share The Road’ exercise, where they learned about carrying capacity, blind spots, and braking distances.
Women for Wheels also contributed with presentations on fire and rescue scenarios, demonstrating the use of fire extinguishers and rescue equipment.
The most recent session, held on 21 June, taught participants safe techniques for removing and replacing wheels along with general vehicle safety knowledge.
On 19 July, participants will gain insights into the full event experience during the final session, focusing on officiating, timing, and driving on the khanacross course.

The programme will conclude, supported by Duttons Ford – Murray Bridge, with a visit from a South Australia Police member, who will reinforce the significance of road safety and effective driving habits.
No prior experience or driving knowledge is required for participants in the Southern Districts Car Club Junior Development Program.
The club offers a fleet of both manual and automatic vehicles, along with enthusiastic and knowledgeable Motorsport Australia coaches available to provide assistance where necessary.
Registrations for the 2026 SDCC JDP will open later this year, with pre-registration options available through email at JDP@sdcc.asn.au.
