Ivan Perisic, the Croatian stalwart, is reportedly close to finalising a contract extension with PSV despite interest from FC Barcelona.
The 36-year-old ex-World Cup finalist made his switch to PSV in September 2024 and played a pivotal role in their triumph in the Dutch Eredivisie, contributing to an impressive late-season surge. Perisic netted seven goals and assisted three times during the last eight matches of the league campaign.
Following the season’s conclusion, the 144-time Croatian international hesitated to commit to PSV, taking the time to weigh his options. With reports of interest from FC Barcelona and his current contract set to expire this month, PSV was believed to have issued Perisic an ultimatum regarding his future.
With just four days remaining before that deadline, it appears that Perisic is poised to renew his contract with PSV. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, alongside Rik Elfrink from Eindhoven Dagblad, has indicated that negotiations between Perisic and PSV have progressed exceedingly well.
Though a final decision is yet to be reached, it seems increasingly likely that a two-year extension for the Croatian is imminent following a thorough discussion.
Last season, Perisic made 35 appearances across all competitions, accumulating 16 goals and providing nine assists along the way.
