Star St Kilda forward Max King is preparing for surgery on his right knee for the second time in under two months, as there is still uncertainty surrounding his recovery timeline.
The Saints’ two-time leading goal-scorer sustained a knee injury during training on February 7, had surgery in late February, and is now scheduled for another procedure on Thursday.
While St Kilda has not yet disclosed a return-to-play timeline, 9News Melbourne’s Tom Morris reports that he is expected to be out of senior football for at least another six weeks.
“Max King will undergo an arthroscopy tomorrow to address an ongoing issue with his knee,” said St Kilda’s football operations chief, David Misson.
“The purpose of this surgery is to alleviate the pain Max has been experiencing.”
“We recognise the interest surrounding Max, but we ask that his privacy is respected during this time.”
“Once we have a clearer understanding of Max’s recovery, we will provide an update on his return-to-play timeline.”

King has not participated in football at any level since round 17 of the 2024 AFL season.
The St Kilda forward initially injured his left knee last June and has subsequently encountered issues with his right knee.
In October, he agreed to a new eight-year contract rumoured to be worth $1 million per season.
St Kilda is set to face off against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday night.
