Wolfsburg defender Mads Roerslev has sustained an injury while in the Danish squad ahead of their Nations League clash with Portugal, prompting his replacement by AS Roma’s Victor Nelsson. This news has been officially confirmed by the Danish Football Association on X.
The 25-year-old Roerslev has rekindled his connection with national team coach Riemer, following the former Anderlecht manager’s stint as an assistant at Brentford. Roerslev made his international debut during a match against Serbia last autumn.
Alongside Roerslev, Riemer will also be without Benfica right-back Alexander Bah, as well as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Kasper Dolberg, all of whom are dealing with injuries.
Victor Nelsson has been a consistent member of the Danish national setup and participated in the recent match against Serbia in November. However, since his loan move from Galatasaray to Roma in January, he has struggled for playing time.
In Italy, he has featured just three times in Serie A and has made one appearance in the Coppa Italia.
Denmark is set to take on Portugal this Thursday in the quarter-finals of the Nations League.
