Western Sydney Wanderers have secured the services of one of their brightest young talents in the Ninja A-League, Talia Younis, by granting her a new one-year contract.
At just 16 years old, Younis demonstrated her reliability within the Wanderers’ first-team last season, starting in 16 matches and making a total of 22 appearances.
Younis previously made history in the Ninja A-League as the youngest player to debut in the competition and will continue her journey with the club she has called home for over five years.
“The trust and confidence the club has placed in me mean a great deal, and I firmly believe in the potential of this club, from the coaching staff to my fellow players,” Younis expressed after finalising her contract.
“I aspire to be a significant contributor to both the team and the club’s success, showcasing my abilities consistently.”
She added: “A heartfelt thank you to all the fans for your unwavering loyalty and support, even during challenging times. I aim to make you all proud this season, representing all of Western Sydney.”

MATILDAS UPDATE: ‘Like a fine wine’: A-Leagues star demonstrates new Matildas boss ‘she still has it’
“I want to express my gratitude to God, my family, my past and present coaches, my teammates, and of course, the incredible fans. I am truly thankful for this opportunity and the ongoing support I’ve received.”
Having been selected for the CommBank Junior Matildas squad for the upcoming AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup in May 2024, Wanderers head coach Geoff Abrahams regards Younis’ re-signing as a significant acquisition for the club.

“Talia embodies the qualities we value at this club, bringing an unwavering determination to enhance her skills with every match,” he stated.
“From the very start, she has exhibited remarkable maturity and composure, and we take great pride in continuing to support her development.”
He further remarked: “Retaining Talia within our Red and Black colours is vital for our future and reflects the culture we’re cultivating at the club.”
This decision to secure Younis follows the Wanderers also granting a new one-year contract to key midfielder Amy Chessari.
However, the club has bid farewell to the 2024 Julie Dolan Medallist, Sophie Harding, as the striker departs after three successful seasons in Red and Black.
