Lance Franklin has revealed his premiership prediction for the current AFL season, and to the surprise of many, it doesn’t involve his former teams, the Hawks or Swans.
Instead, Buddy, albeit with some reluctance, is throwing his support behind Collingwood to take home the silverware.
The Magpies are in fine form, having secured five consecutive victories after a disappointing start to the season. Their latest triumph saw them convincingly defeat Brisbane.

Despite concerns over their reliance on veteran players, Franklin believes the Pies can maintain their performance over the long haul this season, even if they possess what could be the oldest premiership team in AFL history.
“I’m leaning towards the Pies for the premiership … it pains me to admit that,” Franklin shared on the Buddy & Shane Show.
“You’d expect a few of the older players to be rested. When they’re at their peak, they’re arguably the best team at present. They have a solid structure in place.”
“Craig McRae has coached them excellently, and their senior players are performing exceptionally well.”
While he sees Collingwood as a tough contender, Franklin believes the Giants boast the strongest list in the league.

Currently, GWS occupies fourth place on the ladder after suffering a defeat against Adelaide in round six, although they managed to defeat the Pies in the opening round.
“When I analyse GWS’ roster, I genuinely believe they have the best collection of players by a considerable distance, especially with their early draft picks and Jesse Hogan spearheading their attack,” Franklin remarked.
“They’ve assembled a formidable team. It’s fantastic to see them performing well.”
On his new podcast, Franklin also offered advice to the struggling Bulldogs player Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.
