Rasmus Hojlund found the net for the second time in just three matches on Thursday, and he’s now looking to solidify the consistency of his performances.
The Danish forward for Manchester United appears to have rediscovered his scoring touch towards the end of the season, following a lengthy period without a goal.
On Thursday, he scored his second goal in three outings as United comfortably secured their place in the Europa League final with a commanding 4-1 triumph over Athletic Bilbao, having already clinched a 3-0 advantage in the first leg.
“I lost track of how many games I went without scoring. It’s fantastic to see the goals starting to come in now. I just need to maintain my focus, play my game, and hopefully even more goals will follow,” Højlund shared with the UEFA website.
His previous goal came in a match against Bournemouth on 27 May, after going seven games without finding the back of the net.
During an earlier stretch from December to March, he went 21 matches without scoring. Now, the 20-year-old hopes those days are firmly behind him.
“I’m also keen to bring more stability to my performances. I don’t intend to stop here,” he added.
Despite a challenging season in the Premier League, United still have the opportunity to finish on a high note with a match against Tottenham in the Europa League final set for Bilbao on May 21.
The winner of the final will secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
