Barcelona’s thrilling 4-3 comeback win against Celta Vigo demonstrated the team’s unwavering spirit, according to coach Hansi Flick, who praised the victory despite the concern over Robert Lewandowski’s injury.
The match reached a dramatic climax when Raphinha converted a penalty in the 98th minute, securing a vital win in the La Liga title race and extending their lead to seven points over Real Madrid, who face fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
Flick noted that such comebacks are memorable, acknowledging the challenge of overcoming a 3-1 deficit after Borja Iglesias scored a hat-trick for Celta.
“We thoroughly enjoy these types of matches when we win. We faced a very strong team that has been performing well over their last ten games, as I mentioned in yesterday’s press conference. Their coach is doing an outstanding job,” Flick remarked.
“The goals we conceded weren’t related to our pressing. Generally, we press effectively, but today we made some errors that made it easier for the opposition,” he added.
“However, the team’s perseverance was commendable; we never relinquished hope. That’s the mentality we currently possess, and it’s fantastic.”
“I’m not inclined to dwell on the errors made by my players. It was evident that the team fought hard for 90 minutes, and we’re pleased to walk away with all three points.”
With two goals in the second half, Raphinha’s tally for Barcelona now stands at 30 across all competitions, prompting Flick to celebrate by embracing the Brazilian after the final whistle.
“I embraced Raphinha because he was struggling in the first half. I advised him to maintain a positive mindset, and it certainly paid off in the second half,” Flick explained.
“At halftime, I told Raphinha to lift his spirits, reinforcing that we needed him to step up as a leader on the pitch. He delivered a fantastic performance.”

However, Barcelona will be anxious about Lewandowski’s condition after the Polish forward was seen clutching his leg and had to be substituted late in the match.
A hamstring injury could potentially sideline the 36-year-old, who has netted 40 goals this season, for their Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid next weekend, as well as for their Champions League semi-final clash with Inter Milan later this month.
“Lewandowski is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. We’ll have to await the results to gain a better understanding of his injury,” Flick confirmed.
