Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has expressed his dismay at Manchester United supporters, stating they should feel “ashamed” following a disgusting chant directed at Phil Foden.
The two rivals faced off in the season’s final Manchester derby on Sunday, which ended in a goalless draw.
With the match lacking excitement, attention turned away from the field as United fans targeted City’s Foden with an outrageous chant.
Inside the stadium, supporters were heard belting out: “Phil Foden, your mum’s a sl*g”.
Addressing the media post-match, Guardiola did not shy away from condemning those who participated in the chanting when asked about it.
“It’s a display of lack of class,” he remarked. “But it’s not representative of United, it’s about the individuals, you see? We are under constant scrutiny in world football – managers, owners, and particularly football players.
“Honestly, I can’t fathom what goes through the minds of those who brought Phil’s mother into it; it’s a total lack of integrity and class, and they ought to be ashamed…”
