Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner addressed the media following the club’s historic FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.
A solitary goal from midfielder Eberechi Eze in the first half secured a 1-0 victory for Crystal Palace, marking the club’s first-ever major trophy win at the weekend, as they etched their name into the history books.
Glasner’s accomplishments this season will secure his legacy as one of the finest managers in the club’s history.
Palace to be without two crucial players
He confirmed that Adam Wharton and Marc Guehi will be sidelined for Tuesday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“Adam will also miss the game against Liverpool – he suffered a concussion at the end of the Final. As for Marc… we’ll see, he might be available for Liverpool, but both players will not feature in tomorrow’s match.”
Glasner’s lucky black jumper retired
In a lighter moment, Glasner announced that his cherished black jumper, which he vowed to retire from matchday wear if the Eagles triumphed over Manchester City, will not be seen in the upcoming fixtures.
“It’s already in the wash, but its mission is accomplished!” he chuckled. “You won’t catch it tomorrow!”
“It’s going back into the drawer and won’t make another appearance on match days!”
Finding motivation may pose a challenge
Following their victory at Wembley, the Eagles have not engaged in training, leaving a quick turnaround for this week’s meeting. Glasner acknowledged that he plans to gather with his team to discuss how they can perform against Wolves after such a momentous win.
“To be honest, I’m not sure at the moment!” he laughed when questioned about team updates.
“We cancelled training on Sunday, and we’re set to train today after this press conference.
“We’re eager to reunite with all the players, but it’s challenging to predict how they will respond today. It really comes down to finding the right motivation.
“We will hold a meeting to discuss it because it’s not something you can compel someone to do, or simply say ‘you have to’. We need to establish the right commitment as a unit: how we want to approach this week, especially with two matches ahead, and then we’ll see how well we can execute this plan.”
