Alvaro Morata (32) has made a move to Galatasaray on a loan deal from AC Milan, as announced by the Turkish champions on Sunday.
“We’ve reached an agreement with AC Milan,” Galatasaray declared on their official website.
The Istanbul side specified that the loan will extend until January 20, 2026, with an option for a permanent transfer or extension thereafter.
They also disclosed that they have paid Milan a “temporary transfer fee” of six million euros, while Morata is set to earn three million euros for the remainder of this season.
A photo of Morata in the club’s distinctive yellow and red halved shirt was presented.
“I will give my all as long as I have the Galatasaray jersey on. It’s a beautiful jersey,” he remarked.
“I can guarantee that I will put in my best efforts on the pitch and fight for this jersey.”
The Spanish captain left Milan after a lacklustre stint following his transfer from Atletico Madrid last summer, where he was signed to take the place of fan favourite Olivier Giroud.
During his time with Milan, the 32-year-old found the net just six times in 24 matches across all competitions, contributing to the club’s current eighth place in Serie A ahead of their local derby against champions Inter Milan on Sunday.
Milan is poised to confirm the signing of Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord for a reported fee of 32 million euros, with the Mexican striker arriving in northern Italy on Saturday night to finalise the transfer.
“We have made significant investments during this transfer window, with (Davide) Calabria departing and (Kyle) Walker coming in on defence, as well as Alvaro leaving while Gimenez joins our attack,” commented Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is serving as an advisor for Milan’s owners, the US investment fund RedBird.
Galatasaray currently tops the Turkish Super Lig table, leading their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce by six points.
