Arsenal has been dealt another blow with the news that Gabriel Martinelli (23) is set for a lengthy absence due to injury, joining an ever-growing list of first-team players currently sidelined.

The Brazilian winger was forced off during Arsenal’s midweek defeat to Newcastle United in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

A hamstring injury will keep the forward out of action for over a month, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners are already struggling for attacking options, with both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus unavailable; the latter faces a season-ending recovery from an ACL injury.

To make matters worse, Arsenal failed to secure a new striker during the January transfer window, despite making a late move for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
