Fremantle has once again demonstrated their prowess on home turf, defeating a competitive Adelaide side 85-67.
A dominant six-goal first quarter set the stage, leaving the visitors struggling to keep pace with Freo’s resolute defence, only managing to equal that impressive tally by the Dockers after three-and-a-half quarters.
Despite being touted as one of the competition’s most improved teams at the beginning of the season, the Crows have now suffered defeats in three of their last four matches. Last weekend, they could muster only 52 points in a scrappy victory over GWS, and this time they managed just 67 against Fremantle, accumulating only 38 points by three-quarter time before adding a few consolation scores late in the game.

After a difficult week, with a thorough review of their loss to Melbourne, Fremantle needed a strong showing at home. Club legend Matthew Pavlich noted the significant challenges faced in the aftermath of that defeat.
Andrew Brayshaw was a standout, racking up 37 disposals, with Caleb Serong contributing 32. Young midfielder Matt Johnson also shone, finishing the match with 27 touches.

For Adelaide, experienced player Rory Laird led the team’s stats with 27 disposals, but more contributions were expected from key players Jordan Dawson (21 disposals) and Izak Rankine (19 disposals).
Emerging star Riley Thilthorpe made his mark, taking several strong marks and finishing with 3.2, even while dealing with what seemed to be a wrist injury that required medical attention.
In terms of individual accolades, Fremantle’s Josh Treacy currently has a slim lead over Thilthorpe in the Coleman Medal race, having added two goals to bring his tally to 20.
Looking ahead, Adelaide is set to host Carlton in round eight, while Fremantle will travel to Melbourne for a Friday night clash against St Kilda.
