First Gear is returning for 2025, with the inaugural events set to commence at Sydney Motorsport Park on 30 May and at Norwell Motorplex on 5 July.
Designed for individuals aged 12-17, this initiative serves as a direct entry point into motorsport, offering participants hands-on experience with supplied cars and the necessary support to begin competing regularly in the sport.
First Gear is the most affordable and accessible avenue to kickstart your motorsport journey, with appropriate road vehicles and expert coaching provided by Driving Solutions in Sydney. Meanwhile, participants in Queensland will be instructed by a team led by Paul Morris, the 2014 Bathurst 1000 champion, at Norwell Motorplex.
Each event spans four hours, with an entry fee of $149. Coaching sessions are tailored for small groups, ensuring every participant gains valuable skills in car control, braking techniques, road and motorsport safety, as well as understanding vehicle dynamics and physics.
Upon mastering the fundamentals of racing, participants will be well-equipped to advance to club-level events.
It is advisable for participants to possess basic vehicle operation skills to make the most of their learning experience on the day.
A junior Motorsport Australia licence is mandatory for participation. If you do not already hold a licence, it will be included in your event entry at no additional cost for first-time participants.

This presents a remarkable opportunity for young and aspiring drivers, granting them access to industry professionals within a friendly, supportive, and safe atmosphere.
Interested candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply online. Successful applicants will receive further details regarding the event.
Entries close on Wednesday 21 May for the Sydney Motorsport Park event and on Sunday 20 June for Norwell Motorplex.
