Feyenoord have officially announced the acquisition of Luciano Valente, the FC Groningen and Netherlands U21 sensation, on a four-year contract.
The 21-year-old was reportedly signed for approximately €7 million, following FC Groningen’s initial request for a fee in the double digits. Reports indicate that additional bonuses could see Groningen earn up to €1.25 million more.
Valente’s contract extends until 2029 in Rotterdam, where he will don the number 40 jersey.
“It’s finally official! For me—and my family—there was only ever one choice when Feyenoord showed interest,” Valente stated on the club’s website.
“This was the place I wanted to be. It took some time, but I’m delighted it’s finally happened. From my perspective, Feyenoord feels like one big family. When I visited De Kuip wearing a Groningen shirt, I didn’t know what to expect, but now I’m excited to play in front of those fans.”
The dual-nationality player, who’s both Italian and Dutch, made his professional debut for FC Groningen in August 2022. The youth international featured in four matches during this year’s U21 Euros and has made 94 appearances for Groningen, netting 10 goals. Last season, he tallied two goals and provided seven assists across 32 Eredivisie games.
