FC Groningen have reportedly accepted a final offer from Feyenoord for their promising midfielder Luciano Valente.
Feyenoord have shown persistent interest in Valente, who has expressed his eagerness to leave Groningen for the illustrious Dutch club known for their 16 league titles. Initial bids for the Dutch U21 international were turned down by Groningen, who were aiming for a transfer fee in the eight-figure range.
As per multiple Dutch reports, FC Groningen has now agreed to an offer of approximately €7 million for Valente, allowing him to realise his ambition of moving to a top-tier club. According to RTV Rijnmond’s Dennis Kranenburg, Valente is set to commit to a four-year deal in Rotterdam.
Additionally, FC Groningen has secured a 12.5% sell-on clause, ensuring the club can benefit financially from any future transfer of the 21-year-old creative talent.
Valente, who holds both Italian and Dutch nationality, made his debut for the Pride of the North in August 2022 during a 6-1 defeat against Ajax. The Dutch youth international featured in four matches at the recent U21 Euros and has made a total of 94 appearances for FC Groningen, scoring 10 goals. In the previous season, Valente netted two goals and assisted seven times in 32 Eredivisie matches.
At Feyenoord, Valente will join a competitive midfield that includes Eredivisie top scorer Sem Steijn, Netherlands international Quinten Timber, as well as Hwang-In Beom, Jakub Moder, Calvin Stengs, Oussama Targhalline, Ramiz Zerrouki, and Kevin Nadje.
