Bundesliga side RB Leipzig seems to have added another contender to their roster in the hunt for a new long-term head coach. According to the Leipziger Volkszeitung, Cesc Fabregas has emerged as a potential candidate for the role starting next season.
The LVZ highlights that Fabregas’ former teammate, Thierry Henry, maintains close ties with RB supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff.
Fabregas, who represented the Spanish national team from 2006 to 2016, has enjoyed a decorated career with clubs including Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Monaco.
Currently, he is coaching Serie A team Como 1907.
The pool of candidates to take over from Marco Rose and interim coach Zsolt Low continues to expand.
Potential names include Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace), Roger Schmidt (unattached), Danny Rohl (Sheffield Wednesday), Alexander Blessin (St. Pauli), and Matthias Jaissle, who is presently managing in Saudi Arabia.
Low has previously indicated that he does not foresee a long-term role as head coach.
