Former Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is on the road to full recovery after being admitted to intensive care due to heart-related complications.
Since December 2018, Rosicky has served as the sporting director of Sparta Prague, where he was hospitalised last Tuesday.
In a statement, the club confirmed that the 44-year-old has been discharged to continue his recovery at home after doctors concluded that surgery was not necessary.
Specific details regarding his health condition were not disclosed.
“This experience has highlighted the need for me to prioritise my health better. Unhealthy lifestyle choices, insufficient physical activity, and family health issues have unfortunately led me to this point,” Rosicky remarked.
“The positive news is that I’m expected to make a full recovery. However, I am currently unable to fulfill the demanding role of sporting director. I will maintain communication with my colleagues, as we have always functioned as a united team.”
Sparta Prague has announced that Tomas Sivok will step in as the interim sporting director, while Rosicky will continue to provide support in a consultative capacity.
During his time at Arsenal from 2006 to 2016, Rosicky made 246 appearances and was instrumental in the club’s FA Cup victories in 2014 and 2015.
He also shone for the Czech Republic, playing a key role in helping them reach the semi-finals of Euro 2004.
