Former Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is on the road to a full recovery following his recent admission to intensive care due to heart-related issues.
Rosicky, who has held the position of sporting director at Sparta Prague since December 2018, was hospitalised last Tuesday.
According to a statement released by the club, the 44-year-old has since been discharged to continue his recovery at home, having been informed by doctors that surgery was not necessary.
No additional details regarding his health have been provided.
“This experience has highlighted the importance of taking better care of my health. My previous lifestyle habits, coupled with a lack of exercise and a family history of health issues, have regrettably led me to this point,” Rosicky shared.
“The positive news is that I am expected to make a complete recovery; however, I’m currently unable to fulfil the demanding duties of a sporting director. I will stay in contact with my team, as we have always worked collaboratively.”
Sparta Prague has announced that sporting manager Tomas Sivok will step in as the interim sporting director, while Rosicky will continue to offer his support in a consultative capacity.
During his time at Arsenal from 2006 to 2016, Rosicky made 246 appearances and was part of the team that clinched the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015.
He also made significant contributions to the Czech Republic’s national team, helping them reach the semi-finals of Euro 2004.
