Harry Brook has been appointed as captain of England’s white-ball teams, taking over from Jos Buttler.
Brook, who has played 26 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for England, boasts an impressive record of 816 runs at an average of 34.00. He has also represented the nation in 44 T20 matches.
The 26-year-old will lead the squad in their upcoming series against the West Indies in May.
Brook expressed his gratitude, calling the appointment a significant honour.
“It’s an incredible privilege to be named as England’s white-ball captain. From my childhood days playing cricket in Burley, Wharfedale, I’ve always dreamed of representing Yorkshire, playing for England, and perhaps one day leading the team. Being given this opportunity truly means a lot to me,” he stated.

“I also want to express my gratitude to my family and coaches who have been with me every step of the journey. Their unwavering belief has been invaluable and I wouldn’t be here without their support.
“There’s an abundance of talent in this country, and I’m eager to get started, advancing the team and aiming for series victories, World Cups, and prestigious tournaments.
“I can’t wait to dive in and give it my all.”
Buttler resigned from the captaincy following England’s disappointing performance at the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
Brook’s appointment has been met with approval from former captain Michael Vaughan, who dismissed calls for Ben Stokes to reclaim the role as “absolute nonsense”.
