Emma Raducanu has been provided with the option of up to five additional security personnel by the organisers of Indian Wells following an incident with a “fixated” fan during the Dubai Tennis Championships.
After her exit from the Dubai Tennis Championships, Raducanu returned to the UK and is now set to compete at the renowned Indian Wells tournament in California, which commences next week.
According to The Times, the tournament organisers are eager to ensure that Raducanu feels secure throughout the event, hence the offer of extra protection.

Raducanu and her team also have the option to employ private security if needed, although she declined extra protection during 2022.
Typically, players are accompanied by at least one security officer as they move to and from the match court.
The 22-year-old athlete is set to enter the tournament with interim coach Tom Welsh, following Nick Cavaday’s departure from the role due to health concerns post-Australian Open.

Since parting ways with Cavaday, Raducanu has been working with coaches Jane O’Donoghue and Roman Kelecic.
Welsh, a coach from the Lawn Tennis Association academy, will team up with her strength and conditioning coach Yutaka Nakamura during her travels in the United States.
Raducanu has secured her spot in the 128-player women’s singles draw, having risen to 55th in the world rankings.
She has spoken about her experience in Dubai, describing it as a “difficult” situation related to a man who displayed “fixated behaviour”.
During her second-round match against 14th-seeded Karolina Muchova, the former US Open champion approached the chair umpire to express her concerns.
“Thank you for the supportive messages. It was a challenging experience yesterday, but I’ll be okay and am proud of my efforts to compete despite the events that unfolded at the start of the match,” Raducanu commented.
“Appreciation to Karolina for being a great sport, and I wish her the best for the remainder of the tournament.”
