During Richmond’s pre-season simulation match against West Coast, Sam Lalor was forced to leave the field following a moment that had fans holding their breath.
The top draft pick made a bold run for the ball in the third quarter on Monday, but unfortunately ended up on the ground after the contest.
Immediately after the “serious collision,” Richmond’s medical staff rushed to his aid, and he was seen walking off just moments later.
“It looks like there could be a significant injury for Lalor under the pack – that’s certainly not what the Tigers need,” remarked Fox Footy commentator Adam Papalia.
“This is a tense moment for Richmond supporters. The primary concern here is that Sam Lalor has exited the field following that rough clash during the marking contest.”

Prior to his exit, Lalor had already demonstrated his skills by scoring several goals, showcasing exactly why he was the number one pick in the draft.
“That’s the last thing anyone wants to see – we can only hope it won’t keep him out of the game for too long,” former Eagles player Will Schofield commented.
Following the game, the Tigers released a statement saying the 18-year-old experienced “a bit of a sore jaw” and will be kept under watch.
West Coast managed to clinch victory in the three-quarter match, finishing at 62-26 as both sides continue their preparations.
