Dragons prop Emre Guler has received a significant suspension for a crusher tackle during his team’s surprising victory over the Storm.
The front-rower, who has featured in all three of St George Illawarra’s matches since joining the club in the off-season, was put on report during the first half of Saturday’s encounter.
Melbourne forward Shawn Blore made a run from inside his own territory and backed into the contact, with Guler applying considerable force to the back of his neck.
Jaydn Su’A was also part of the tackle but was cleared of any misconduct.

The 27-year-old has been charged by the NRL match review committee and received a grade one classification for the crusher tackle, which would typically lead to a fine.
However, due to previous breaches, Guler will be sidelined for three matches with an early guilty plea, and risks being out for four weeks if he contests the charge and is unsuccessful.

Guler’s suspension will overshadow what was an exceptional day for the Dragons, who put behind two weeks of criticism and launched their 2025 campaign against one of the true premiership contenders at Kogarah Oval.
The potential return of Hame Sele from a calf injury might assist Shane Flanagan in addressing the gap, while experienced prop Blake Lawrie, who played in reserve grade, could also be back in contention.
