Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has dismissed any speculation regarding his potential departure from the club this off-season, labelling the reports as ‘fake news’ as he embarks on the final year of his contract.
Since his transfer from Benfica for €40 million in 2017, Ederson has established himself as City’s primary keeper.
At 31 years of age, he boasts six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy with the club, in addition to securing the Premier League Golden Glove on three occasions for achieving the most clean sheets.
Although there were strong links connecting him to the Saudi Pro League, Ederson mentioned an “unusual proposal” back in October but confirmed at the Club World Cup that his focus remains with City.
“No, my future is here,” Ederson affirmed to the media.
“Some friends send me plenty of news, but 99% of it is fake news. I understand you in the media need stories to share on social platforms or to fill your bulletins.
“I get that, but there’s a lot of misinformation surrounding my name. My focus is here; I am committed to City.
“This club provides me with everything I need to return to the Premier League and aim for another Champions League title. My mind is solely on the club.”

City manager Pep Guardiola stated that he is unaware of any discussions regarding Ederson’s contract, noting that the keeper faces the prospect of departing as a free agent next year if his contract isn’t renewed.
Guardiola commented: “All I can say is that I am incredibly pleased with what I observe in training sessions and thrilled that Eddie is still part of our team.”
“We cannot possibly define our extraordinary and remarkable decade without him. His impact has been significant in numerous ways, and I’m genuinely glad he’s here.”
