Daly Cherry-Evans has expressed that he is unconcerned about any potential fan backlash following his choice to part ways with the Manly Sea Eagles.
On Nine’s 100% Footy during a Monday night segment, the halfback confirmed he would not be accepting a contract offered by the club, as previously discussed on Fox League’s NRL 360.
In an extensive interview on 100% Footy, Cherry-Evans elaborated on his reasons for leaving Manly and hinted at the possibility of joining another team in the future.
Speaking with 9 News Sydney’s Danny Weidler, the 36-year-old conveyed uncertainty about how he would be regarded by the club’s management.

“The club will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will cherish it forever,” Cherry-Evans stated.
“As for my treatment by the club moving forward, I’m not quite certain, but I believe it will be fine.”
Regarding the hardcore Manly fans, the captain remains untroubled about any backlash, especially as they gear up for a match against Parramatta at Brookvale Oval this weekend.

“Honestly, I’m not concerned,” he commented.
“I’m not saying that people won’t react, and it would be naïve to assume there won’t be any comments, which is understandable – but I’m not worried about it, not at all.
“I recognise the immense love and support from individuals at the club.”
In the past 24 hours, Cherry-Evans mentioned that the club was made aware in December of his decision to step away from the Sea Eagles.
The departing captain shared that he has experienced “a range of emotions” in the decision-making process over recent months.
“Whether it’s the excitement of new opportunities, pondering retirement, or the prospect of playing at a different club,” Cherry-Evans reflected.
“That brings a mixture of nerves and excitement, but it also makes me a bit melancholic. I’m leaving behind a chapter of my life that’s spanned the past 15 years.
“The primary reason for my decision is to minimise any disruptions. I understand there will be speculation about my future, but now we can concentrate on our season, the club can focus on the current year, and we can look ahead to life after this.
“A significant motive for making this announcement is to facilitate progress and forward movement.
