Juventus secured a vital 1-0 victory against Inter Milan in the Derby d’Italia at Allianz Stadium, propelling themselves into the Serie A top four and maintaining the league’s only unbeaten home record this season, now extended to 13 matches.
This match followed a remarkable 4-4 draw in the earlier fixture this season, a stark contrast to the defensive strength both teams typically possess, with each boasting two of the league’s stingiest defences.
Initially, Inter looked dominant, but the 184th Serie A encounter quickly became thrilling with opportunities arising for both clubs.
Lautaro Martinez had a prime chance to give the visitors the lead, only to see Denzel Dumfries waste the opportunity by heading wide from his cross, shortly after Mehdi Taremi’s overhead kick was expertly saved by Michele Di Gregorio.
The Bianconeri retaliated as Nicolas Gonzalez and Francisco Conceicao tested Yann Sommer with low shots, the attempt from the Portuguese being particularly problematic for the Swiss keeper.
Despite Inter’s control of the match, Juventus continued to find openings, with only a deflection off Alessandro Bastoni preventing Randal Kolo Muani’s volley from reaching the target.
At the other end, Martinez squandered another good opportunity to break the stalemate, sending his shot over the bar from a well-directed cutback by Dumfries.
The Dutch wing-back kept posing problems for Juventus throughout the first half and came agonisingly close to scoring right before half-time, hitting the post with a fierce shot.

Both managers made tactical adjustments at halftime, leading to a tighter second half with few opportunities in the opening 15 minutes.
Simone Inzaghi reacted by making a triple substitution around the hour mark, introducing Marcus Thuram who posed an immediate threat. His cutback was met by Dumfries, but a combination of Di Gregorio and the post thwarted the opportunity.
This save proved pivotal as Juventus found their rhythm and took the lead through Conceicao, who netted after Kolo Muani produced a superb spin away from defenders to set him up.
Inter’s history at Juventus in recent visits showed a struggle to score multiple goals, and their chances of a comeback diminished rapidly when Teun Koopmeiners fired a shot on goal, only for Dumfries to clear it off the line.
The visitors held much of the possession but lacked urgency in the final third, resulting in their disappointing run now extending to just one victory in their last four league games, missing a chance to leapfrog Napoli at the top of the table.
Conversely, this win is significant for Juventus as it marks their third consecutive home league win, a first for this season.
