Sam Walker has refuted claims that he plans to sit out the 2025 season if the Roosters find themselves out of finals contention.
The 22-year-old has been sidelined since he suffered a ruptured ACL during a match against the Raiders last September.
There were reports suggesting Walker could be absent until August, leading to the idea that the Roosters should consider giving him the remainder of the year off if finals were out of reach.
However, Walker has dispelled these rumours regarding his recovery timeline.
“That’s not true,” he stated during Nine’s coverage at half-time of the Anzac Day match against the Dragons.

Walker has resumed training recently, with club captain James Tedesco commending the halfback’s dedication to his rehabilitation.
This month, Andrew Johns commented on Nine’s Freddy and the Eighth, mentioning that reinstating Walker might be a “risk” due to the potential for a new injury.
“If he returns around rounds 18 or 20 and the Roosters aren’t in the race for the finals… would you really take that risk?” he asked.

“He’s a significant investment. There aren’t many halfbacks available, and heaven forbid he plays just one game and injures his knee again.”
Walker believes he is making good progress and aims for a return by round 13.
“I’m hoping to be back within six to eight weeks,” Walker remarked.
“It’s coming along nicely. Fingers crossed there are no setbacks. The plan is to aim for mid-June.”
“Seeing the crowd today and watching the game has made me even more eager to get back on the field.”
