Once forgotten, Josh Schuster is set to make his long-awaited debut for South Sydney in the NSW Cup this weekend after overcoming challenges from a calf injury and personal hurdles.
The former Manly utility is poised to make a significant impact in the NRL as he regains his confidence and match fitness, according to his manager.
“Josh is ready to hit the field, and once he has a few games under his belt, there’ll be no holding him back,” his agent Mario Tartak told Wide World of Sports.
“He has slimmed down, shed some excess weight, and is ready to play footy again.
“It’s been a tough journey for him since leaving Manly, but Souths and Wayne Bennett have been incredibly supportive. Wayne has had a profound influence on Josh, and I believe we will all see the results of that in the weeks to come.”

The 23-year-old Schuster has always possessed the talent but faced numerous hurdles during his time at Manly, including injuries, inconsistent form, and mental challenges.
His final NRL appearance for the Sea Eagles occurred in August 2023, after which the club parted ways with him in April.
For a period, Schuster’s career was uncertain until Souths extended him a lifeline with a one-year contract.
If he successfully returns to the field this weekend, it will provide a significant boost for the Rabbitohs, who are currently grappling with an injury crisis.
