The Bulldogs will be missing Jaeman Salmon for a significant period after scans revealed that the second-rower has sustained a fractured ankle.
Salmon is expected to be out of action for up to 10 weeks and will require surgery.
The 26-year-old exited the field with a limp shortly after reigniting his rivalry with Canberra coach Ricky Stuart during the club’s 32-20 victory over Canberra on Sunday.
He struggled to put weight on his ankle as trainers assisted him off the pitch in the 67th minute, where he was replaced by Harry Hayes.
Before his departure, Salmon was observed limping amidst play.
He later returned to the sidelines using crutches and watched the final minutes of the match with a bag of ice wrapped around his foot.
Phil Gould, the Bulldogs’ general manager of football, disclosed the details of Salmon’s injury in a post on X on Sunday.
“Jaeman Salmon’s scans have confirmed a fractured ankle… He will require surgery… Likely a 10-week recovery before he can return… It is what it is… That’s footy,” wrote Gould.

With Salmon’s injury update, coach Cameron Ciraldo faces yet another selection dilemma, as he is already missing Josh Curran, Sitili Tupouniua, and Jacob Preston due to suspensions.
The Bulldogs are set to take on the Roosters this Friday night.
