The restructuring of Brisbane Roar’s squad has officially kicked off, with the confirmed exits of Florin Berenguer, Keegan Jelacic, Louis Zabala, and Adam Zimarino.
These four players mark the initial changes to the club’s roster since Michael Valkanis stepped into the head coach role, taking over from Ruben Zadkovich.
Keegan Jelacic, aged 22, has concluded his loan agreement with Belgian Pro League side K.A.A. Gent. The Olyroos striker first joined the Roar during the 2020-21 season and returned on loan from Gent for the 2023-24 season after a year with Perth Glory. His loan was extended for another season, leading to 24 appearances for Brisbane in the 2024-25 season, during which he netted two goals.

French midfielder Florin Berenguer has departed the club after two successful seasons. Prior to his time with the Roar, Berenguer was a significant player at Melbourne City, where he celebrated three Premier victories and one Championship. During his time at Brisbane, he made 41 appearances in the Isuzu UTE A-League.
Queensland native Louis Zabala has also ended his journey with the Roar, having spent four seasons at the club. Signing his first professional contract in 2022, Zabala accumulated 62 appearances for Brisbane in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

Adam Zimarino also exits after a single season with Brisbane, having featured in 18 matches under Zadkovich during the 2024-25 season, where he scored a goal in the Roar’s thrilling 4-3 victory against Sydney FC in January.
The club has indicated that discussions are ongoing with several other out-of-contract players, with more announcements expected as new head coach Valkanis continues to craft his squad for the 2025-26 season.
