Botafogo have secured the services of Argentine forward Joaquin Correa on a contract that runs until the end of 2027, following the expiration of his deal with Inter Milan. The Brazilian Serie A club made the announcement on Tuesday, just ahead of the Club World Cup.
“The player has signed on a free transfer after concluding his time with the Nerazzurri,” Botafogo stated in an official release.
“Correa, who will don the number 30 jersey, is set to join the Botafogo squad in the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup.”
The Brazilian side has been drawn in Group B for the tournament, which kicks off this weekend, and will compete against Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Seattle Sounders during the group stage.
The 30-year-old striker began his professional career in 2012 with Estudiantes de La Plata and has since played for clubs such as Sampdoria, Sevilla, Lazio, Olympique de Marseille, and, most recently, Inter.
Correa was part of the Argentina squad that lifted the Copa America trophy in 2021.
