Botafogo have officially secured the services of Argentine forward Joaquin Correa on a deal that will see him stay at the club until the conclusion of the 2027 season. This announcement comes following the expiration of his contract with Inter Milan, ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup.
“The player joins us on a free transfer after concluding his deal with the Nerazzurri,” Botafogo stated in a release.
“Correa, who will don the number 30 jersey, is set to link up with the Botafogo squad in the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup.”
The Brazilian side will compete in Group B of the tournament, which kicks off this weekend, facing tough opponents including Atletico Madrid, Paris St Germain, and Seattle Sounders during the group stages.
At 30 years old, Correa made his professional debut in 2012 with Estudiantes de La Plata. His career has taken him through various clubs including Sampdoria, Sevilla, Lazio, Olympique de Marseille, and most recently, Inter Milan where he played last season.
Correa also proudly lifted the Copa America trophy with Argentina in 2021.
