Eric Dier is on the brink of completing a summer transfer to AS Monaco, as reported by both French newspaper L’Equipe and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The deal will see Dier secure a contract with Monaco until 2027, along with an option for an uncertain extension.
The 31-year-old English defender’s contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire this summer. Dier initially joined Bayern on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2024 before making the move permanent.
He has been instrumental in bolstering the German club’s defence this season, particularly in light of several injury setbacks within the squad.
To date, Dier has made 25 appearances across all competitions, netting two goals and providing an assist.
Defensive Depth Remains
His departure will not significantly weaken Munich’s central defence, as both Dayot Upamecano and Hiroki Ito are anticipated to return to full fitness for the new season, alongside promising young talent Tarek Buchmann.
Additionally, Josip Stanisic and Min-jae Kim remain available options, provided the South Korean defender isn’t transferred during the summer window.
