Barcelona’s left back, Alejandro Balde, has suffered an injury to his left hamstring, as confirmed by the club on Sunday, just before a crucial series of matches for the LaLiga leaders.
Hansi Flick’s squad is set to take on Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday, following a resounding 4-0 victory in Barcelona last week. This is followed by the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid on April 26.
According to reports from local media, Balde is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks.
The 21-year-old was forced to exit the match against Leganes, which Barcelona won 1-0 to solidify their position at the top of LaLiga, due to the injury on Saturday.
“Tests conducted on Sunday morning on first team player Alejandro Balde indicate that he has sustained a distal injury to his left hamstring,” the statement from Barcelona read.
“His return to the field with the first team will be contingent on the progress of his recovery,” the Catalan club added.
Balde has featured in 43 matches across all competitions this season, netting one goal and providing ten assists.
Currently, Barcelona is at the top of LaLiga with 70 points, sitting seven points clear of Real Madrid, who have a match in hand.
